Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal is the title given to the Blessed Virgin Mary when she appeared to a Sister of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul in Paris.
The significant encounter occurred on July 18, 1830, when Sister Catherine was roused from her slumber by a celestial child standing at the foot of her bed, urging her to join him with the words, “The Blessed Virgin is waiting for you.”
Complying with the mysterious child’s guidance, Sister Catherine proceeded to the Chapel. There, she knelt at the altar rail, and in anticipation, she sensed the rustling of fabric before witnessing the Blessed Mother take a seat in the priest’s chair. Overwhelmed with reverence, Sister Catherine approached Mary, resting her hands on Mary’s knees.
What followed was a profound experience, during which Sister Catherine absorbed hours of instructions from the Blessed Mother. Mary provided guidance on how to navigate the impending trials that Sister Catherine would soon encounter, offering invaluable insights that would shape her responses during challenging times.
